AUTO RENEWALS ISSUE
We recently discovered a big glitch with auto renewals. While checking to be sure that each person who signed up for the Tuesday night DUPR ladder league at Clayton was a First State Pickleball Club member in good standing, we discovered that Club Express, the company that handles our website, was automatically sending out emails thanking members for renewing, even though our members had not paid their $30 annual membership dues. Needless to say, this is a big glitch that we are working to resolve. As you know, FSPC is run by a small group of volunteers – The FPSC board. We would appreciate your help by logging onto www.firststatepickleball.org and checking your profile or your payment transactions. If you have not paid your dues, you will see Payment Due in your profile. Your payment transactions will also show when you paid your annual dues. Thanks so much for your patience, your help and your support. The FSPC board is excited about our upcoming events and feels that $30 is a small price to pay for FSPC membership.

2024 Beach Blast Delaware State Championship hosted by FSPC

Delaware State Championships Beach Blast 2024 is in the books! First State Pickleball Club’s very own Beach Blast Tournament was recognized by the Professional Pickleball Association (PPA) to serve as the official PPA state championship. Over 240 players participated October 4th-6th at Sea Colony Pickleball Complex in Bethany, DE. The venue, weather and competition could not be beat. Thank you to all of the volunteers, sponsors, tournament directors (Karen Faber, Chuck Connolly and Brian Workman), the referees led by Patty Daley and all of the FSPC board members for their hard work to make this such a successful event. A special shout out to Sea Colony’s Director of Racquet Sports, Alex Justiniani, for all your support in hosting this tournament. The medal winners in each category/bracket secured a spot in the PPA National amateur championships in Dallas, TX in November 2024. It will be a great opportunity to shine on a national stage. Last but not least, congrats to all the medal winners.

Memorial

On Sunday September 22, nearly 80 friends and family of Nan Colella and Vickie York participated in an afternoon of social play to honor them and raise money for the American Cancer Society. Through generous donations over $1600 was raised. Nan’s sister, Joan Page and First State Pickleball Club donated refreshments. FSPC and Maryanne Green donated raffle items. The highlight of the afternoon was the dedication of the memorial bench (see photo on page 2) donated by Barb Freimuth in memory of Nan and Vickie.

Playtime Scheduler

Over the last couple of years, Www.Playtimescheduler.com has become the unofficial go-to for FSPC members and others to coordinate games here in Sussex County.  Playtimescheduler.com allows you to post a game and include time, location, and level of play.  If you want to coordinate a private game, you can invite friends… find a pickup game, no problem, or you just may want to watch others who play at a higher level in the hopes that you might learn a few tricks for yourself.  It has become a very useful tool to find games and I would encourage our members to use it as well.
